So, Saturday we went to a pawn shop and thought for sure we had found my engagement ring. I was so excited for Wednesday to come because they wouldn’t let Matt buy it without someone who was over 18 with him, and his parents weren’t with us Saturday, they were closed Sunday, Halloween was Monday, and he had to work Tuesday, so Wednesday was the only day he could go buy it. It was such a pretty perfect ring and I tried it on and it fit me perfect, which rarely happens because my finger is so small. I just knew that was the ring and I was so excited. Then Wednesday comes around and Matt goes to meet his Dad there after school. They told him they had sold it on Monday. It was sad really, Matt said he couldn’t find another there he liked so they just left. I was a bit down about that, but I realized that just wasn’t my ring, and there are plenty more out there. It would be better as a surprise anyway, and now it’s for sure going to be. Matt said he will not tell me a word about the ring he gets me, and not when he’s going to get it or where. So I’m still excited, and hopefully he’ll find one soon

a mellow moment

sitting in bed, reading and drinking tea one afternoon. It’s been cold and rainy here, so am making full use of the holidays with a little indulgence.

We visited Al Ain (one of the more traditional and Arabic cities in UAE) and Jebel Hafeet, which is the second highest mountain in the UAE. It was freezing up there….and we came down quickly to have a look at one of the many oasis of Al Ain….where the water channel system is 3000 years old…will post shots of it soon.

In Lucia’s Eyes by Arthur Japin was an interesting read. It is based on historical facts and revolves around the legendary Casanova and finding the woman, if any, that he had wronged. Lucia is the woman he dares to find such a person.
